ScanRise: Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 July 2026

Short version: ScanRise keeps everything on your device. We don't run a server of our own, we don't have accounts, and we don't collect, sell, or share your personal data. There's no analytics or advertising tracking. The only information that ever leaves your phone is what Apple and our purchase provider need to process a subscription you choose to buy.

Who we are

ScanRise is provided by Nicholas Easton (ABN 31 978 335 623), a sole trader based in Victoria, Australia. In this policy, "we", "us", and "our" refer to that provider.

What ScanRise stores

Your alarms, habits, wellness entries, to-dos, streaks, and sleep-tracking data (your sleep sessions, sleep scores, and reports) are saved only on your device (in the app's local storage). This information never leaves your phone and is not sent to us or to anyone else.

Calendar access

If you allow it, ScanRise reads your device calendar to show that day's events on your "Start my day" screen. This is read-only, happens entirely on your device, and your events are never stored by us or transmitted anywhere. You can turn calendar access off at any time in iOS Settings.

Camera access

The camera is used only for the "scan a real object to dismiss the alarm" feature. Recognition runs entirely on your device. No photos or video are recorded, saved, or transmitted.

Motion & sleep tracking

If you use Sleep Tracking, ScanRise reads your device's motion sensor while the app is open on your bedside to sense how much you move overnight. This is used to estimate your sleep and produce your morning sleep report and sleep score. Motion data is processed entirely on your device, is never recorded, stored off-device, or transmitted, and no audio is captured. Sleep stages are an estimate from movement, not a medical measurement. ScanRise is a general wellness tool, not a medical device. You can turn Motion access off at any time in iOS Settings.

Notifications

ScanRise uses local notifications as a backup so your alarm can still alert you. These are generated on your device; no notification content is sent to any server.

Purchases and subscriptions

ScanRise offers optional paid plans (monthly and yearly subscriptions, and a one-time lifetime purchase). When you buy one:

This purchase information is the only data that leaves your device, and it is used only to deliver the plan you chose. You can restore previous purchases at any time from the app's paywall screen.

Crash and error diagnostics

To find and fix bugs, ScanRise sends anonymous crash and error diagnostics to Sentry, a third-party error-monitoring service. These reports contain only technical information (the error type, a stack trace with file paths removed, the app build number, and a coarse app state such as "idle") and never any of your content (no alarms, sleep data, wellness entries, to-dos, calendar, names, or messages). We do not use this data to identify or track you. See Sentry's privacy policy at sentry.io/privacy.

Data we collect

Other than the purchase information and anonymous crash diagnostics described above, ScanRise has no user accounts, no backend server of our own, and no third-party analytics, advertising, or behavioural tracking software. Because we don't receive your personal content, we cannot access, sell, or share it.

Children

ScanRise is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above.
